Trifonic: Graintable Synthesis with Malstrom

Graintable synthesis? Huh?

Reason’s Malstrom synth combines granular synthesis and wavetable synthesis to allow for all kinds of modulation awesomeness.

In this video, Brian demonstrates how to use Malstrom to create rich bass and other synth sounds.

    thx for another great tutorial. i am personally not a huge fan of reason due to its closed nature but this synth is a really great addition to this program ;) . keep up the good work !

    There are definitely some unique synths and tools in Reason that make it an essential part of the arsenal, especially Malström. Furthermore, there wouldn't be all the cool softsynths that we have now without Rebirth (late 90's precursor to Reason), which I still have on my old OS9 mac in the studio. I definitely wish that I could load Reason modules as plugins into Logic or Pro Tools, but the Rewire solution (despite having its quirks) works well.

    I'm 3000 miles away from my studio for the next three weeks. All I have to tool around with is my laptop with Reason 4 on it. A very timely post :)

    I just want to echo what everyone else is saying here. Amazing tutorials! Not only are you showing me the tools, explaining why particular filters, routing, nobs etc. are doing what they do, you can break it down in a very accessible way.

    Great tutorial! This retriggered my use of Reason as rewire slave in Logic. What is that metering you use I see in your tutorials with the amber background, showing the waveforms of your sound? Thanks again for the great tuts.
